Are you eager to attend the Oscar 2018? Well, the Academy will be performed live on Sunday 4th, March. This will be the 90th annual event since it was founded. Last month the Academy released a list of 12 presenters who will make the event worth tuning in. The amazing Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the event once again this year. There are two things you should know before you tune in for the event; the full list of presenters and the nominees in each category.
The full list of presenters
To begin with, the Oscar 2018 event will have a list of twelve dazzling presenters, some new and some will be doing it again. Among the presenters is the star featured in “A Fantastic Woman”, Daniela Vega. She will be the first openly perceived transgender to perform in the event. History is bound to go down in the nominations book with the first transgender opening the envelope in the fateful event. Vega did not just wake up for the good news. She earned her acclaim to perform after playing an amazing role in the film by Sebastian Leila. Though she was not lucky enough to get nominated, the movie is up for nominations of the Best Foreign-Language Film.
Leila and Vega have collaborated actively to make the film the best trans-film in the nomination list. This tells us why Vega has been the winner in the tightly contested transgender presenters.
The other list of presenters expected to take the stage by storm includes Chadwick Boseman, Laura Dan, Mahershala Ali, Viola Davis, Tiffany Haddish, Greta Gerwig, Kumail Nanjiani, Tom Holland, Emma Stone, Jennifer Garner, and Margot Robbie. This list seems to comprise a diverse group of stars. Some are presenters previously featured in films that went unrecognized by Oscar. Some of these movies stars presenters include Holland of “Homecoming Spiderman” and “Girls Trip” Tiffany Haddish.
Haddish stole the show in January when she helped announce the nominees. Emma stone as featured above will be hitting the stage again after she won the best actress last year thanks to her role in “La La Land”. Viola Davis, “Fences”, supporting actress was chosen to replace Cassey Affleck after he informed the telecast producers that he would not be able to attend this year’s event. Reason for his excuse is undisclosed. Cassey had won last year as the best actor following his distinguishing performance in “Manchester by the Sea”. Seven of these presenters will be going on stage for their first time, and much is expected from them by De Luca.
According to the Academy’s Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd, both telecast producers, the efforts of these presenters will set the stage on fire. They believe they have compiled the best list of presenters who will be flexible to the schedule, stunning on stage and easy to merge forces to deliver an electrifying performance for an unforgettable night. Tune in on ABC at 20:00 hours ET.
The nominees in each category
Secondly, you should know the full nominee list. This list will give you an insight of who will probably be the winner in several categories. Are you good at prejudging? Well, you might be having a complete list of winners already! The Oscar nominees were announced in Beverly Hills at Samuel Goldwyn Theater earlier on.
The Best Picture Category will include “Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, The Post, Phantom Thread, Call me by Your Name, Bill Bird and The Shape of Water. Though this category did not face much competition, the judges admit that it was hard to come up with a perfect list. The Lead Actor Category includes “Phantom Thread”, Daniel Lewis, Timothee Chalamet, “Call Me by Your Name”, “Get Out”, Daniel kaluuya, “Darkest Hour” Gary Oldman, and “Roman J. Israel”, Denzel Washington.
Lead Actress Category includes ” The Shape of water”, Sally Hawkins, “Lady Bird”, Ronan Saoirse, “The Post”, Streep Meryl, and lastly “The Shape of water”, Saly Hawkins.Supporting Actress Category includes amazing and gorgeous stars such as “Phantom Thread”, Manville Lesley, “Mudbound”, Mary Blige, “Lady Bird”, Laurice Metcalf, Allison of “I, Tonya”, and Spencer Octavia,”The Shape of Water.”
Supporting actor Category was another post highly contested. William Defoe of “The Florida Project” could not believe his nomination. Other actors in this category were “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”, Sam Rockwell, “Shape of water”, Jenkins Richard, “All the Money in the world”, Plummer Christopher, and lastly, Woody Harrelson featured in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing”.
Another critical list that many wonder how the judges were able to select was the Best Director of The Year. This list comprises the directors of the following outstanding films; “Dunkirk”, Nolan, “Get Out”, Peele Jordan, “Lady Bird”, Greta Gerwig who is still nominated as a presenter this year, Guillermo Toro of “The Shape of Water” and Thomas Anderson of “Phantom Thread”. Taking a close look at the films chosen above, it is quite fair and satisfying that the judges did a great job. If you haven’t watched these movies yet, you are missing the whole list here.
Best Visual Effects of the Year is a challenging category that requires the judges to review and critically criticize the films before agreeing. The Blade Runner 2049 seemed to fascinate everyone with its outstanding visual compilations. From my point of view, I wouldn’t be biased anticipating the winner of this category to be The Blade Runner 2049. Another film is “War for Planet Apes” and “Star Wars.”
The last category you should know is the Animated Feature. This category has films that you have watched thrice if not twice if you love animations. The outstanding “Boss Baby” has secured its chance to be the winner. Other animations include “The Bread Winner” by Anthony Leo, “Loving Vincent” by Hugh and Dorota. “Coco”, created by Darla Anderson, and “Ferdinand”, created by Carlos Saldanha is some of the extra animations you should include in your watchlist.
Oscar Academy is greatly anticipated in the entertainment and music industry by people of diverse backgrounds. The event is a kind gesture of appreciation for the hard work of different people in the industry do to keep you entertained. Don’t miss the full live coverage on ABC channel. Let’s appreciate Art!
